The Jewish Cemetery Expedition and Archive (JCEAA)

JCEAA is a non-profit organization established in 2003 in Arlington, Virginia.  The organization conducts site visits to Jewish cemeteries and other burial grounds.  The purpose of these visits is to identify and document the location of cemeteries, record site information, and make digital images for the JCEAA archive.  The goal of JCEAA is to obtain and maintain data that will help preserve location data about Jewish cemeteries, as well as provide reference information and images for public use.

The "Expeditions"

JCEAA conducts its own site visits, lasting for just a day or so, or several weeks.  Data and images obtained during vists are maintained in the JCEAA archive.  All images in the JCEAA archive, and those displayed for public use, were made by JCEAA staff during the site survey.

Beginning in December 2009, JCEAA converted the public image display previously found on its website, to Flickr, a subscriber service of Yahoo!, Inc.  All public images displayed by JCEAA may now be seen at the JCEAA Flickr site.  Not all images collected by JCEAA are posted, though a represenative sample is being added each week.  Flickr is a registered trademark of Yahoo!, Inc.
